I’m a four sport athlete. I am in Football(US), Wrestling, Track, and Swim. The most rewarding, life changing, and beneficial sport is wrestling. It is the most physically and mentally demanding sport. It is MMA but with (possibly) less brain damage. At practice today I lost 4.3lbs and I drank 2lbs of water during practice. You also learn how to diet. Wrestling at a lighter weight class is beneficial because you will have a strength advantage on many of your opponents, but you will have to lose weight. This is where dieting comes into play. Wrestling is also the best highschool sport for developing an all around athlete. We learn how to do takedowns with perfect form (carries over to football), we run multiple miles in sprints every day. Our cross country runners say that our conditioning is harder than a whole cross country practice… our cross country team is really good too. We also lift weights a few days a week. Most schools will take you in and if you’re not good just put you on a worse team so that you can learn without getting in the way of varsity. I came into high school and tried cross country and wrestling with no experience and they welcomed me with open arms and taught me what they knew. I’m not even good at running and I am still on the cross country team. One more player on the team means more team motivation and more possibility for good athletes. As long as you do your best you should get accepted to the sport.
